These are the available DYE PLANTS we have this year. Sold individually to curate your own selection OR a bundle for a small plot of 8x4-feet garden space. Please refer to one of the photos.

To help with your planning, I did the math on how many plants can fit a garden bed of 8x4-ft size. From this example, you can adjust your plants calculation based on the bed space you have.
Plant spacing recommendation:
9-in spacing: marigold and scabiosa - I grow dwarf varieties of marigold because they can mature and bloom earlier than the tall ones and tighter spacing works, Scabiosa on the other hand has a tall growth habit and planting them at 9-in spacing will give you long stems - perfect for floral arrangement. As a natural dyer, I only pick the blooms and last year, they are all happy in that spacing. In this example, I can fit 5 plants per row per marigold and scabiosa = 10 plants.
12-in spacing: cosmos, coreopsis - these plants tend to branch as it mature. It may look sparse in between but trust me and give each plant that much space! Four (4) plants each of orange cosmos, rubenza cosmos and coreopsis = 12 plants.
Indigo requires this much spacing as well but it spreads as it grow. I also plant them in bunches and so I give it 3-feet worth of bedspace. Five (5) plants per bunch x 4 rows = 20 plants.
