2025 growing season has begun!
These are the available DYE PLANTS we have this year. Sold individually to curate your own selection OR a bundle for a small plot of 6×6-feet garden plot. Please refer to one of the photos for my suggested square foot gardening plan.
Pick-up only, no shipping.

To help with your planning, I did the math on how many plants can fit a garden bed of 4×4-ft size using square foot gardening method. From this example, you can adjust your plants calculation based on the space you have. Please see two of the photos where the flowers are placed on a grids. (Note: previous description was 6x6-ft garden bed which was incorrect).
Plant spacing recommendation if are growing in rows instead.
6-in spacing: marigold -I grow dwarf varieties of marigold because they can mature and bloom earlier than the tall ones and tighter spacing works.
9-in spacing: scabiosa - has a tall growth habit and planting them at 9-in spacing will give you long stems - perfect for floral arrangement. As a natural dyer, I only pick the blooms and last year, they are all happy in that spacing.
12-in spacing: cosmos, coreopsis - these plants tend to branch as it mature and it branches out when you cut the stems. It may look sparse in between at the beginning of the season but trust me and give each plant that much space!
Indigo prefers to be planted in groups and I do it in group of 5. Indigo can easily be propagated, too. When you cut them to use the leaves for fresh leaf dyeing, you can put the stems in water and it will root in a few days. Transplant them after.
